This past weekend, we got to PLAY! It seem's like it's been forever since we've been able to put our responsibilities {work, bills, grocery shopping, etc.} aside and just have fun. Well, Saturday, Darren did have some responsibities that he had to attend to. But us girls, we had a good kick-back day. We took naps, played board games, and watched a movie. It was fabulous! Later that evening, we did go to the annual Evanston Spice the Ice Chili Cook Off. I must say, aside from the music, I was slightly disappointed. Maybe it's just my eclectic nature; but of all the booths {there had to be over a dozen} I liked one chili. Maybe two. The rest...honestly, I think I make better chili at home with the Western Family chili spice pack and canned tomatoes and beans.
So...all of the fun did happen on Sunday. Darren headed down to the Machine Shop early to help clean up from the chili shindig, and while getting the girls breakfast, I noticed a ton of cars at the church. Come to find out it was stake conference, and by the time I realized, there was no way we'd have made it. So we made it a family day. Those are my absolute favorite! We headed to Salt Lake to the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum. It was a bit spendy for what they had in my opinion, but the girls had a great time, and sometimes, that is all that matters. I love seeing them carefree and laughing and having fun. N had a great time playing in the water and grocery shopping. Jaz loved Ellie the horse and was the best crane operator I have ever seen.
On our way back to the car, we stopped by Build a Bear. I must say ... what a cute store! I have seen it, but never been inside. We had a gift certificate for Jaz to use. She got a soft white bear, dressed in a Tinkerbell outfit and named her Sally.
We later stuffed ourselves to the max with sushi. The vegetarian with kiwi / mango sauce was my favorite. It was called the Hunk. MMMMM! We finished the night off by stopping by Mom's house {and staying way to late!}. I wish everyday was like this. No dishes, no laundry, no cooking, no worries. Just the innocence of two little girls learning and enjoying their childhood. Who could ask for more.
