Our trip to the iridologist

Have you ever been to an iridologist? We recently went for our first time, and I must say it was quite interesting. Iridology is how we can see our level of health through looking at our eyes. They analyze the iris and the sclera. During our visit, the iridologist took pictures of our eyes and then took them home and analyzed them and typed us up a report. We haven't yet had the time to go through our reports in great detail, as there is a wealth of information in it, but hopefully we can sit down and read and re-read them this weekend. I think it's interesting to see what's going on with my body and it's overall health. It also helps to know where the weak areas are so I can strengthen them and become healthier! Plus it's super cool to see your eyes close up. Jaz had here eyes read as well...we didn't do the report for her because it is a bit pricey, but maybe next time.

Here are the photos of my eyes...

Want invited?

As much as I post about my family and personal life on this blog, I feel like I need to protect my family from all the internet creep-o's , so I am making my blog private in a week from today. Please leave a comment with your email if you would like to be invited. Thanks :)

What do your children live with?

While on pinterest today, I came across this. I thought it was excellent, and thought I'd share.

I'm not typically a fan of messy face babies, but I sure do love this one!

N has been talking up a storm this week. Both verbally, and in sign language. . . okay- well not quite a storm, but she does have some new words. SHOES, EAT, WHOA, and it seems like there were some more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. She's still doing great sleeping in her toddler bed {knock on wood}! And we've switched back to cloth diapers. I think it may help the potty training process (which I must add, is very difficult to do when both parents work all week!). So we shall see how it goes.

This week, us girls took a trip to the beauty salon in Randolph. Our new friend, Shae made us beautiful again. Jaz had her locks trimmed and braided, and got a kick out of getting her hair washed in the sink. She got to check out the tanning bed too-which she thought was WAY cool! Nautika was a terror like always and tore the shop apart, while playing in garbage cans, cupboards & eating crackers off the floor {yuck!}.

Saturday, we went back to Randolph for dinner and good times. N and baby Mason got into WWF over a toy and they went at it for a good chunk of the night. Pinching, pinning, pushing & a lot of crying were involved. Did I mention how entertaining it was though? Poor kids were so tired, and it was so funny that we just let them go at it for our own entertainment. Definately needed a video camera.

We were lucky enough to have some sickies this week. Conjunctivitis made it's way around to most of us, and J has been coughing so hard it makes her vomit {in the middle of the night, of course}. Not fun. But I must say I love my herbs and essential oils-they do work wonders! No Dr. trips and we are all better. Yay!

Growing up

My sweet baby slept in a big girl bed for the first time last night. She was so excited and we spent a good chunk of the eveining playing on her bed. Let me make that a little bit more clear. She was excited until she had to really sleep in it. But I must say that she was so good and didn't get out of bed once. Maybe she hasn't realized that she can yet. After hours of crying, she finally conked out and stayed in the bed until morning. I was sure that I'd find her on the floor in the morning, but I didn't. It doesn't seem like she should be this big yet. Oh how time flies! I love my sweet baby girl.

the very hungry caterpillar

Everyone is always asking me what I actually do at my job. I'm a technician, yes, I work on the pipeline with all the guys. It's not my favorite place to be in this world-but it pays the bills and puts food on the table. Here's just a little preview of a few of the things I have worked on this past year. Due to all of the snow and moisture this year, we had a few areas that we were dealing with landslides. We watch these very closely because too much of a shift could put too much stress on the pipe, causing it to burst or leak. In one area we had to dig up the lines and install strain guages to monitor the land movement. It only ended up being about a week long project, but it's always neat to see the pipe dug up and actually see with your eyes what is in the ground. Makes me have a whole different level of respect for the pipe. The two 36" lines :

On the last day up there , I found this little furry friend. If you know me very well at all . . . you know that this guy was NOT my friend. But it was the biggest and furriest caterpillar I had ever seen. And I was in a way, fascinated by him... just as long as he kept his distance from me!

This was at our most recent engine change out . . . a few weeks ago. We had an emergency engine exchange at Coyote and because of all the construction and equipment going on there, we were unable to get the new engine into the building on the semi. So . . . we had a crane put it into the back of a dump truck and backed it in. Someone was thinking!

You can see the old tubine sitting in the background . . .
